Mardi Gras

Happy Mardi Gras!

Take a trip to Storyville, New Orleans with this erotic story that partially takes place in a brothel there.

Here’s a sexy excerpt from Storyville: A Time Travel Erotic Romance:

“Where are we going?” I asked as Jan Baptise led me towards his family plot.

“We’re going to Storyville.  That’s where I live.”

“Storyville?  You mean the famous red-light district?”

“Yes.”

“I’ve read about it.  Storyville doesn’t exist anymore.  Are we going back in time?”

“Yes.  Back to 1899.”

“Wow!  This is weird, but exciting, too.”  I couldn’t believe it.  “Wow!” I said again.

“I hope you like it.”

“What do you do there in Storyville?”

“I play piano in some of the brothels.”

“Wow!  That’s where Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton got their start!”

“You know about them?”

“Yeah.  My grandfather likes jazz.”

“If you like jazz, you’ve come to the right place.”

I could hear music playing in the distance.  Before he opened the door, he said, “Are you ready to go back to 1899 with me?”

“Sure.  I’d follow you anywhere.”

He opened the door, and we went down some stairs. He opened another door and I saw a barely recognizable Basin Street.  Back then, it had railroad tracks running down the middle of the street.

People were scurrying about wearing Victorian-era clothing.  There were two-storied stately mansions, some adorned with turrets and cupolas, lining the street.  Some of the houses had naked women hanging out of the upper floor windows trying to tempt the men on the street to come inside and join them.  There were saloons and gambling parlors.

He said, “We’re going to the Mahogany House.”

“Okay,” I answered, ready for anything.

“Have you ever heard of Lulu White?”

“No.  Who is she?”

“She runs this place,” he said as we walked up to the door of a large mansion.  “It’s a lot nicer than some of the brothels down here.  It even has a marble staircase and two parlors.”

He opened a door and I saw half-dressed women sitting in a parlor talking to men.  A pianist in the corner was playing ragtime music.

Jan led me up the marble staircase and we came to a room.  I didn’t know what surprises he had in store for me next.  It was all so thrilling!

Sensual and Sexy Erotica

Here's a sexy excerpt from my latest erotic romance, "Call Me: A Christmas Erotic Romance"

###

Want to read more?

Here's the rest of the excerpt:

"They came inside her bedroom, and she lit a candle and turned off the light.

He sat on her bed and leaned against the headboard while watching and waiting for her.

She struggled to take off her dress and asked, “Would you please unzip it for me?”

He stood and walked over to her. “I’d be happy to.”

Turning her back to him, she lifted her hair with both hands, baring her neck.

With hands trembling with desire, he fumbled with the zipper until he finally drew it all the way down.

She stepped out of her dress and was completely naked except for a long pearl necklace that dangled enticingly over her breasts. “Shall I leave these on?” she asked.

He gasped upon seeing her and told her, “You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.”

“Thank you. Do you want me to take off my necklace?"

“No. Keep it on. You look lovely and sexy wearing it.”

“I’m glad you think so.”

“I really do.” He admired her rosy-colored nipples and the fullness of her breasts. Exhaling deeply, he then told her, “You look better than I even imagined. And that’s saying a lot.”

“Come to bed,” she told him and took his hand.

They sat against the headboard together and he admired her breasts and caressed them passionately.

She sat on top of him, leaned her hands against the headboard, and put both her breasts at his eye level. He rubbed his face between them and kissed and sucked on her nipples until she told him, “Why don’t you take off your pants?”

“Sure.”

She sat back against the headboard to watch and once he took off his pants, she admired the view of his erection tenting the fabric of his boxer shorts."

High School Reunion

High School Reunion

People often ask me where I get the ideas for the male characters in the erotic romances that I write.  Do I write from experience? Do I know these sexy men?  Well...the short answer is, "Kinda".

The story that most represents my life and experience is High School Reunion. This romance is loosely based on my courtship with my husband.  I knew him in high school, but I was too immature to pick up on the signals he was sending at the time when he gave me a romantic poem that he'd written about me on the last day of school. I was an idiot and put him off for a while but am so glad that he gave me a second chance later.

The male protagonist in my story High School Reunion is a musician and writer, like my husband.  He's a Ginger with freckles and long legs that seem to go on forever.  The mystery in my erotic romance is whether he will show up at their reunion ten years after they graduated.  Is it too late for them?  Or will they get a second chance at love?

Here are some 5 Star Reviews for this Erotic Romance:

Five Stars: “I enjoyed reading High School Reunion. It’s that second chance you might have dreamed about. It’s about giving romance the chance that should have happened a long time ago. It’s about going out on a limb to try to get what you want, now that you have experience being an adult. Give this one a read if you've ever wondered, "What if?"

Five Stars: “There's always that one from your last that you wonder what if...

That basically is this story. Danielle has been wondering and attending her high school reunion for years with the hope of seeing Randy, The one that loved her but she let get away.

"The heat that comes from the short story was unexpected and hot.”

Only 99 cents.

Mardi Gras

Today is Mardi Gras and I do love New Orleans.  I’ve been to the city many times over the years and was inspired to write this time travel erotic romance that partly takes place in the 19th-century brothels there.

Happy Mardi Gras

It's Mardi Gras in New Orleans and unfortunately, the parades have been canceled this year due to COVID.

That doesn't mean that lovers of the city have to do without. Take a trip to the Big Easy and be an armchair traveler with my erotic time travel book, "Storyville: A Time Travel Erotic Romance."

Here's an excerpt. (Warning: Adult Content)

I looked over towards Jackson Square and saw some horse-drawn carriages.  “Let’s take one of those when we’re done eating.  I’ve always wanted to ride in one,” I told Jan Baptiste, a handsome Creole piano player whom I just met.

Ten minutes later, we walked across the street and hired one.  The driver helped us into the carriage and told his pony to giddy-up. As he was pulling away, he asked, “Were y'all eating at the Cafe du Monde?”

“Yes,” I answered.

He said, “It’s the original coffee stand in the French Market.  It was established in 1862.  In English, its name means “Café of the People.”

The sound of a calliope blasted and began its cheerful tune. I started laughing. “This is just like Disneyland!” I gushed.

The driver pointed to a paddlewheel in the Mississippi that looked like it was right out of a Mark Twain story.  He told us, “You can take the Steamboat Natchez and go on a Jazz Dinner.  Lots of couples like that.”

We rode on and a lot of people stopped and pointed at us.  I felt very special, like royalty almost.  The driver took us over to The Cornstalk Hotel.  He pointed out the wrought-iron fence that resembled cornstalks and told us that the original owner had it made for his new bride because she was homesick for her family’s farm in the Midwest.

Jan put his arm around me and held me close.  The driver noticed that we weren’t paying any attention to his spiel anymore, so on the ride back to Café du Monde he drove on without speaking.  Jan put his hand on my knee and I didn’t stop him.  I was falling in love with him already, and I’d barely met him.  I was so attracted to him!  He seemed so foreign with his French name and Southern-Gentleman manners.  I was feeling like Scarlett O’Hara who’d finally met the man of her dreams.

When we arrived back at the café, he said, “Let’s walk on the moonwalk.”

“What’s that?” I asked.

“It’s what we call the promenade along the river.  We can sit and watch the boats go by.”

“Why’s it called the Moonwalk?”

“From what I’ve heard, it was named after a mayor, Maurice ‘Moon’ Landrieu.”

When we got to the banks of the Mississippi River, I saw a lit-up steamboat sailing on the water with people dancing inside and out on the deck.

“Let’s go do that sometime,” I told him boldly.

“Yes.  I’ll make sure we do.  I’d be honored to escort you.”

He held my hand and we walked along the riverbank.  He showed me more of the French Market and as we were walking, the crowds got thinner.

We were in the back of the Palm Court Jazz Café and felt safe and secure in our own bubble.  I was startled when he pinned me against the wall and put my arms above my head.  I was surprised by this gesture.  No man had ever acted so dominant.  I felt a bit like I was tied up.  Like I was in his power.  But—I liked the feeling.  It was so exciting and new.  In contrast, when he kissed my lips, it was with a very soft touch.  I could have kissed him like that all night long.  He put his hand up my dress and felt my wet pussy soaking my undies.  He ripped off my thong and fingered my slit.  It felt so good!  He could feel the excitement in me building as I was on the cusp of an orgasm.  Right when I was ready to blow, he stopped.

“Please,” I begged him.  “Don’t stop!”

“I don’t want our first time to be like this.”

“I’m liking it just fine.  Let’s keep going,” I vainly tried to convince him.

“No, my dear.  I think I’d better walk you to your house.  Besides, I have a prior engagement tonight.”

“Okay,” I said with disappointment and jealousy.  Who was he seeing after me tonight? I wondered.

“May I call on you again?” he politely asked as he left me on my doorstep.

“Of course,” I said.  “I’m looking forward to spending more time with you.  We have some unfinished business.”

He kissed my hand and said, “Au Revoir.  Until we meet again,” then vanished, it seemed, into thin air.

MY REVIEW:

When I first heard about this anthology, I was very excited because I love New Orleans and have been there so many times that I consider it my second home.  Many of these authors are new to me, so I was eager to read what they had to say about romance in the Big Easy.

What a diversity of stories and situations.  A Bite and A Mark: A Story from the Grid is about a young man who wakes up finding himself handcuffed to a vegetarian vampire who also has no idea how they got there.

Her Revenge is about how a wife gets back at her husband for cheating on her; Enemy Mine stars a Federal Cavalry Officer in occupied New Orleans who comes to the rescue of a young southern virgin, who  because of poverty, decides to become a prostitute; Serendipity is a charming story about a widow who literally takes a bullet for a powerful man she's never met before; and Blame It on the Spring Fling is a fun story about a young woman who makes love potions and fears that her old love, a vampire, only has feelings for her (and become her "Love Zombie") because he's accidentally cut himself on broken bottles of her concoctions.

The two stories that resonated with me the most were The French Quarter Queen and Redemption in New Orleans.  Both stories were so evocative of the city that I felt I was right there with them. I love stories about lovers getting a second chance and the characters in these stories are complicated and relatable.  One of the stories ends in a shocking way (I won't tell you which one).

If you like happily-ever-afters and marriage proposals, you'll enjoy these stories. They're definitely worth a read.

Happy Valentine's Day

Just in time for Valentine's Day comes this book trailer for my latest erotic romance: Torn Between Two Lovers: A Civil War Romance.

I've always been fascinated by the Civil War and absolutely loved Ken Burn's series that used the hauntingly beautiful tune "Ashokan Farewell" as its the theme song.  Every time I hear it I want to cry, thinking of all of the brave men, including my Great Grandfather, who fought in the war.

I especially loved seeing the couples together for their formal photographs with the men dressed in their uniforms.  One of the most poignant segments in the series was the reading of Sullivan Ballou letter to his wife that he wrote the night before he was killed at the Battle at Bull Run.  It is so eloquent and touching. I dare you not to cry when you read it.

Sullivan Ballou Letter

My historical romance Torn Between Two Lovers: A Civil War Romance is about a young southern woman who is in love three men: her husband who died in the war, a Yankee soldier who is wounded aboard the steamboat, The Sultana, and a handsome doctor who treats wounded soldiers in a cordoned-off section of the famous Gayoso Hotel in Memphis. After her husband dies, she tries to commit suicide but is distracted from drowning herself when she sees something floating on the Mississippi River after the fire on the steamboat.  It turns out to be a wounded soldier atop on a coil of rope. She takes him home with her and tends to his wounds, all the while fearing that her neighbors will discover she's been harboring a Yankee in her house.  When his condition gets worse,  she takes him to the hospital and ends up falling in love with his doctor.  Juggling two men at the same time is not a simple feat, as she finds out when she fails to tell that soldier that she's engaged.  You'll have to buy the book to find out what happens next.  It is sexually explicit, so it's meant for readers 18+.  Here's where you can purchase it.  It is also available in paperback at Amazon.

Male Erotica Writers - J. Strickland

Let's hear it for the boys, ladies.  Who doesn't love reading about sex and romance
from a male point of view?

Every Wednesday, I'll be focusing on a male erotica writer
whose works I've read and enjoyed.

Today, I'm concentrating on J. Strickland

I never dreamed that I'd be reading, let alone writing, indie erotica when I was 59 years old and first became acquainted with the works of this writer.  I belonged (and still belong) to a Facebook Group called "A Smashwords Book for Everyone" and look at its posts from time to time. I was struck by the tenderness of his stories.  They were very sexually explicit, but there was no trace of BDSM trappings that are so prevalent these days.  Some readers may call his sex "vanilla", but I like the taste of vanilla.  He put the romance back into erotic romance and that's why he caught my eye.  He allowed 30% free sampling on some of his titles, and I read almost all of them. Finally, guilt caught up with me and I broke down and purchased one of his books.

This was the one I chose because it takes place in Paris (a city I love) and had an intriguing mystery at the heart of it.  Here's the book blurb he wrote:

The arrival of a Christmas card brings back memories of a summer spent in Europe years ago during college. While there, the narrator met another American college student, a woman who he had a brief love affair with. They shared only a week together, but created memories to last a lifetime.

Here's the review I wrote:

"This is a very sexy and sweet erotic romance and I loved the way it ended."

On a personal note, J. Strickland wrote my favorite all-time review from a reader.  It was for my romance story, "High School Reunion: You Can Go Home Again" which I later made more sexually explicit and changed the title to "High School Reunion". Here's what he wrote:

"2nd Chance at Romance:
Everybody probably had at least one crush in high school. Most people might have wondered at least at some point about what ever happened to that person. What would happen if you got one more chance to get together. How would it change your life?

That’s what this story is all about. It’s a very believable depiction of wanting to see that person again, and getting to meet up. There is some unfinished business in Danielle’s past, and the reader gets to experience tying up those loose ends.

I enjoyed reading High School Reunion. It’s that second chance you might have dreamed about. It’s about giving romance the chance that should have happened a long time ago. It’s about going out on a limb to try to get what you want, now that you have experience being an adult. Give this one a read if you've ever wondered, "What if?"
